Telangana CM to seek power from Maharashtra

KCR to meet Fadnavis in Mumbai on Tuesday; power crisis top priority
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will be meeting his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai on Tuesday. The two Chief Ministers will discuss cooperation between the states and several interstate issues. Mr Rao will also seek power supply to the state from Maharashtra.
Sources say the CM, who will fly to Mumbai from New Delhi on Monday, will stay at the Raj Bhavan as host of Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao, where his birthday will be celebrated.
Mr Rao will especially request Maharashtra to provide surplus power to Telangana which is reeling under a severe power crisis. The situation is grim for the upcoming summer. He will also request Mr Fadnavis to allow Telangana to use Maharashtra’s power lines to get power to the state from the grid, a source said.
Pranahita Chevella, the mega-irrigation project which the Telangana government had planned to take up and seek national project status from the Centre, the Lendi project, check dams and other inter-state issues will also be discussed by Mr Rao before he returns to Hyderabad on Tuesday evening.
