Telangana: Minor girls sexually abused at orphanage
Hyderabad: It has come to light that several minors were sexually and physically abused at an orphanage at Rampally in Keesara. Jaggula Ahron, the owner of Dream Home for Orphans, allegedly used to molest minor girls and beat up other kids. His wife J. Glory has also been accused of torturing the kids.
The legal officer of the District Child Welfare Committee had lodged a complaint with the Cyberabad police, after which the Keesara police booked a case against the couple. Ahron and Glory are absconding.
As many as 11 HIV+ children and 18 other orphans lived in the Home. “Ahron used to molest the girls, who are as young as 13-14 years old. He even abused the HIV+ children. The children had no one to turn to,” said M. Vijayadevi, member of the CWC.
“When we got to know that the kids were being abused, we sent a team to check out the matter. We found out that not only Ahron, but even his wife used to torture the kids. One girl had deep wounds on her thighs after Glory beat her with sticks. Another boy had sustained a head injury, but he was not taken to the hospital,” she added.
After the CWC members visited the Dream Home, they informed the police and shifted the kids to a government-run home.
“We have booked a case against the couple for sexual harassment. We have launched a manhunt for the couple,” said Keesara inspector P. Guruva Reddy.
