Cyberabad ‘errors’ to help plan for new IT clusters

“The IT industry in Telangana is growing at the rate of 13 per cent,” Mr Singh said

Hyderabad: Development at Cyberabad, which was planned as a ‘Walk to Work’ IT cluster, has not gone as per plans and, therefore, the IT department now wants to design newer clusters by not repeating the mistakes made while planning Cyberabad. This is what IT secretary Harpreet Singh said on Friday. He was speaking on the sidelines of a press conference held by the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association to announce the 23rd edition of the Annual Summit and Awards to be held on March 11, 12.

Mr Singh said that IT exports for 2013-14 was recorded to be Rs 57,000 crore, while for the current year (2014-15) the exports will be to the tune of Rs 64,000 crore. “The IT industry in Telangana is growing at the rate of 13 per cent. We are setting up the T-hub the country’s biggest technology innovation centre,” he said. He added that apart from Google, at least three other big companies are planning to set shop in the city.
