MPs are now ignored like curry leaves: TDP MP Diwakar Reddy
Hyderabad: TDP MP from Anantapur J C Diwakar Reddy regretted that suggestions given by public representatives like him were not heeded by the governments or even in legislatures nowadays.
"Today we (MPs) are like curry leaf (which is picked out and put aside while eating). They (governments) are not in a situation where they listen to us. There is no one who cares for us.
"He (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) has got such a majority. There is nothing we can say we achieved this. In my view, this democracy is not useful for this country. This assembly and Parliament are not useful," he said while speaking to media in Anantapur.
He said that he was saying this because there are only two important persons in this country.
"One is the Prime Minister and second is the Chief Minister. The democracy today is such that no opposition leader is ready to say that 'Chandrababu Naidu, you did this good thing and you have our support', even if a good thing is done.
" Similarly, the government is not ready to listen to the suggestions given in Parliament. Why have these legislative bodies? Elect a Prime Minister and Chief Minister. Form a cabinet he needs. What is that we are achieving with Parliament or Assembly?" he said.
Reddy, a senior Congress leader joined the TDP ahead of the elections last year.
