The persons named in the FIR include Karan Johar and Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate C. S. Baviskar issued a notice in response to activist Santosh Daundkar’s private complaint through advocate Abha Singh. According to DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni, the sections include 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 294, 509 (speaking vulgar, obscene and pornographic words publicly before a women audience) of IPC and section 67 and 66 A (circulation of obscene, pornographic content on the internet) of Information Technology Act, 2000.
The petitioner has argued that the programme was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, which is built on the land provided by the government on lease to the National Sports Club of India which is supposed to be used for functions of Municipal Corporation and holding sports events of children of various schools of Mumbai only and hence this show was not only organised in violation of legally-designated use of this land, but other laws were also abused.
