Indian Samsung Galaxy S4 taste the Lollipop
After the first rollout of Android v5.0 Lollipop to users in Russia, Samsung has rolled out the operating system updates to other zones. India and Korea are presently receiving the Lollipop updates for the GT-I9500 version of the 2013 Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 is an Exynos version, which sports an 8-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The other variant of the Samsung Galaxy S4 sports a Snapdragon chipset (GT-I9505).
In order to receive the update, you should keep checking your smartphone for software updates in the setting section. Ensure that you have backed up your data before you update the OS version. The Lollipop update is not available via OTA, but you will have to download and install Lollipop using Samsung’s Kies desktop suite. Make sure you have a good internet connection as the update is 1.4GB large.
Those who have rooted their smartphones will eventually lose out on the update. However, you can still head to Sammobile and download the firmware for your smartphone. The downloaded file will be a .zip format, which needs to be extracted to the desktop and installed via Odin, a third-party firmware flashing tool for Samsung smartphones.
