Telugu Desam MLA pulled up for shouting at Judge

Madhava Naidu submitted that he did not say anything to the judge

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday pulled up Telugu Desam Narsapur MLA B. Madhava Naidu for allegedly shouting at the additional district judge on the Narsapur court premises on August 15, 2014.

The bench was dealing with a suo motu contempt case initiated against the MLA for his alleged interference in the affairs of the court and the removal of hawkers adjacent to the court complex in Narsapur.

Mr Madhava Naidu submitted that he did not say anything to the judge and did not commit any mistake. However, he is tendering an unconditional apology to the court for causing any inconvenience.

The Chief Justice asked the MLA’s counsel why he was tendering an apology when he had not made any mistake. “Being a lawmaker, is it proper for him to enter the court accompanying dozens of followers?” he asked.

The MLA’s counsel pleaded with the bench to close the case since the additional district judge had dropped proceedings.

The bench, however, said that the district judge has no jurisdiction to accept the MLA’s apologies.

The bench added, “Wrong-doers must be punished. His apology will not rescue him,” and adjourned the matter for one week.
