On Thursday, doubt hung over actor Mahesh Babu’s ‘selection’ as brand ambassador of Hyderabad. According to reports, the actor was approached by representatives from the Telangana state government who sought his help in promoting Brand Hyderabad. But the Mahesh camp has gone underground with relatives and friends refusing to offer any information on the development. Others wondered why the actor has been picked when brother-in-law Jayadev Galla is part of rival Telugu Desam. Mahesh Babu was recently in the news after it was announced that he had adopted his ancestral village of Burripalem, in the Guntur district.
However, on Thursday, the TRS seemed rather surprised with claims that their party had approached the actor for ‘face value’. “Frankly speaking, I have not heard about this development. Mahesh Babu is a very good human being, but we are yet to take any such step,” said a top source from within the CMO here in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, another senior member from the TRS said that the party “had no such plans for now”. Repeated calls to the Mahesh Babu’s household have gone unanswered.
