AAP plans to boost presence in India

Volunteers confident on expansion

Hyderabad: The Delhi polls have shattered the notion of Raja-Praja, said Prithvi Reddy, AAP national executive member and convener of the Mission Vistaar Committee. Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Reddy said, “While the AAP stayed away from communal politics, BJP tried to polarise the votes till the last day. The victory proves that we didn’t win relying on factors like religion or caste factors,”

On AAP’s plans to go nationwide, he said: “AAP is trying to strengthen its presence at every polling booth across the country by the end of the year. I hope that the Delhi victory will attract many more well-meaning and honest people who can engage with the people at grassroots.” He said the AAP would not form coalitions with other parties. Regarding the upcoming Bihar elections, and the UP polls later on, Mr Reddy said, the AAP would gauge the people’s response and decide.

Asked about its plan for Andhra Pradesh and TS, Mr Reddy said, “We have asked the cadre to focus on issues affecting the public. We have asked the cadre to increase participation at the municipality elections.”On the AAP’s poll promises, Mr Reddy said, “Jan Lokpal Bill and Swaraj will be implemented with the highest priority. There are a lot of other issues too like women safety, affordable power and water problems.”

Many volunteers from the state worked for the AAP’s victory. Kiran Vissa, AAP’s AP executive committee member said, “We found that people were ready to own AAP as their own party.” Thyagraj Kovvali, AP State Social Media/ IT Group Member said, “In Connaught Place in Delhi I found an old man above 70 years of age bent like a bow distributing self made leaflets asking women to vote for Kejriwal. Rupa travelled to Delhi from a village of East Godavari leaving behind her 2 children and stayed for 15 days campaigning walking 10 km a day.”
