BJP’s ‘three musketeers’ who survived AAP Tsunami in Delhi

Jokes are doing the rounds that all 3 BJP MLAs can travel to Delhi assembly in an auto

New Delhi: In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Congress became the butt of jokes with BJP mocking that 44 Congress MPs can travel in one Volvo bus to the Parliament. With the Delhi Assembly election results now announced, the same joke cycle seems to be haunting the BJP.

Jagdish Pradhan, Om Prakash Sharma and Vijender Gupta are the only three BJP candidates who survived the AAP Tsunami and won their respective seats.

Now all three BJP MLAs can travel to Delhi assembly in an auto.

Former BJP state president Vijender Gupta retained his bastion Rohini by defeating AAP’s C L Gupta by around 5000 votes.

The second seat that BJP managed to win is Vishwas Nagar constituency. BJP’s Om Prakash Sharma defeated AAP’s Dr. Atul Gupta in a tough contest by over 11,000 votes.

And the last seat BJP won is Mustafabad, Jagdish Pradhan BJP defeated sitting MLA Hassan Ahmed of Congress by over 5000 votes.

In a near-sweep, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday decimated BJP and Congress by recorded a landslide victory and secured 67 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, halting the Modi juggernaut in its tracks.

Arvind Kejriwal, the former Revenue Service officer who led his party to a sensational victory, won with a huge margin in the New Delhi constituency where the BJP fielded a Nupur Sharma, a novice, who came second and veteran Congress leader Kiran Walia way behind at the third spot.

The BJP’s humiliation was complete with its Chief Ministerial face Kiran Bedi losing in the traditional stronghold of Krishna Nagar which was long held by party veteran Harsh Vardhan.

All its veterans had to bite the dust. The party gambled on Bedi but relied on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image, which still did not work for the party.

In an election that was billed as a referendum on Prime Minister Narendra Modi but rejected by BJP as such, the AAP wave spearheaded by its chief Arvind Kejriwal knocked the two major parties and their veterans from their citadels.
