Teachers paid by both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states
Khammam: Though they received salaries from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states in December and January, teachers working in the seven mandals transferred to AP are a worried lot these days.
These teachers had opted for TS when they were given the choice of continuing to serve either the AP or the TS government. The fact that their salaries have come from AP has sent alarm bells ringing since they fear that this could lead to them being forced to continue in AP.
Their fears mounted after the TS government issued a directive to district officials not to deposit their February salaries. Further, the Loss of Pay Certificates of these teachers and other details were sent to the West and East Godavari district treasury officers. These teachers have not withdrawn the salaries deposited by AP. They planned to return the money through challan payment.
As per records, as many as 452 teachers, who are working in the seven transferred mandals, have opted for TS. They have been organising stirs for the last seven months on the issue. They staged a dharna in front of the district education office on Monday demanding that they be assigned to work in Telangana state.
