Andhra Pradesh: CM Chandrababu Naidu okays 43 per cent pay hike for govt employees
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced a 43 per cent hike in pay for state government employees. Mr Naidu said the new pay scales with 43 per cent “fitment” would be implemented from June 2, 2014, when bifurcation came into effect.
Mr Naidu said the government was a facing financial crisis, but it had the duty to protect the interests and aspirations of its employees. The 43 per cent “fitment” is at par with what was offered by the Telangana government last week. The new pay scales would add Rs 350 crore to the burden on the state exchequer, including pensions.
The hike was announced following a meeting with the Cabinet sub-committee and employees leaders at the Secretariat. Staff at the Andhra Pradesh secretariat and APNGO leaders distributed sweets and lit crackers to express their happiness. Employee leaders also gave sweets to Mr Naidu to express their thanks.
