SI swallows bribe, gets prison for two years
Hyderabad: An SI who swallowed the bribe he had accepted has ended up in prison for two years. The ACB court in the city convicted C. Chandra Kiran Reddy, a former SI of Humayun Nagar police station, who took a bribe of Rs 4,000. He swallowed the money when ACB officials came to catch him.
The SI took the bribe in 2008 to help a man who was booked in a criminal case. The court has now found him guilty for taking bribe and for concealing evidence. “The SI took Rs 4,000 as bribe. But when ACB sleuths came he swallowed the notes. Then, the cops had to take him to Osmania GH to get the notes out. The notes were produced as evidence,” said an ACB official. The court sentenced the SI to two years RI and a fine of Rs 10,000.” He was also sentenced to simple imprisonment for 10 days and a fine of Rs 1,000 for concealing the evidence.
