Watch: Aamir Khan calls Ranveer, Arjun and Karan's AIB Roast 'violent'
Mumbai: Aamir Khan just voiced his opinion on the controversy ridden All India Bakchod Roast. After having heard what went on with Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar, he went on to call it a violent and irresponsible act - though he is yet to watch it. Commenting on the show, Aamir Khan clarified that he had not watched the show to get into the details of it. "First off, I want to clarify that I haven't watched the show, I have only seen a couple of clips of the roast till now. I heard more about what the show was when Karan (Johar) and Arjun (Kapoor) told me about what transpired there along with a few dialogues. On hearing what they had to share, I must say that I was deeply affected and disappointed with it."
The AIB Roast had stirred up a lot of controversy with a section of the audience, including some religious organisations, protesting the content of the show. The AIB Knockout was premiered on YouTube amidst a lot of fan fare on January 28, 2015. The video has been taken down from YouTube but the angst remains among a large section of people.
Aamir highlighted that he personally has a problem with the show and therefore has not seen it. The actor who helmed the hit film 'Delhi Belly' also pointed out that even though this film has adult content, he went out of his way to obtain an adult certificate so that he doesn't infringe on the freedom of speech. " I respect the Freedom of Speech but I also believe that we have a responsibility towards how we use that freedom," said Aamir condoning the show.
While some termed the jokes on the show as 'cheap' and 'vulgar', some religious organisations said their sentiments were hurt and filed complaints against the people associated. Tendering an unconditional apology for their act, the AIB team recently released a statement on Monday along with the text of the letter addressed to the Archbishop of Mumbai. " Trying to impress people by using abusive language is pointless. I am no longer 14-year-old who will hear abusive language and laugh. If you really want me to laugh then do so without hurting anyone. That is what I will enjoy," said Aamir.
