Teenage riding pillion falls to death in road mishap
Hyderabad: A teenage girl was killed and her brother was injured in a road mishap at Dhobi Ghat in Saidabad on Sunday. The girl’s brother was riding the bike and she was on the pillion seat. He lost control of the vehicle and the duo fell down on the road. The girl was run over by a truck. The girl R. Varalaxmi, 19, a degree first year student of Haindavi Degree College in Champapet was a resident of Kurmaguda in Madannapet.
Saidabad police said that on Sunday morning she had to attend a special class and her brother R. Yoganand, a BTech student, was dropping her. When they reached a point near Hitec Function Hall near Dhobi Ghat, their bike came parallel to an ambulance on the right and a truck was following them from the left. The ambulance applied sudden brakes and Yoganand lost control of the vehicle.
“Both of them fell on the road and the truck which was just behind ran over them. Varalaxmi sustained a serious head injury and died on the spot, while her brother sustained minor injuries. His condition is stable,” a police official said. Based on Yoganand’s complaint, a negligence case under Sections 304A and 337 was booked. The victim’s body was shifted to OGH and handed over to the family.
