Mumbai: After wooing the audience with her role as the devious runaway bride in ‘Dolly Ki Dholi’, Sonam Kapoor has bagged yet another role. The actress will be playing Neerja Bhanot, in Ram Madhvani’s second feature film, according to a report in DNA.
Neerja Bhanot was the brave flight attendant who lost her life saving others during the 1986 hijack incident.
According to the report, Madhvani was initially keen on remaking the Danish series Pinoza with Kajol, however the project fell apart. He was quoted as saying, “Let me clarify that I haven’t shelved the other project. The logistics weren’t working out, so while that project falls into place, I decided to go ahead with this one that I have been scripting for a year-and-a-half.”
The director also mentioned that when he closes his eyes and thought of Neerja Bhanot, the first person that came to his mind was Sonam Kapoor. He feels the actress is just right for the part.
