Now, PM Modi turns focus on Bihar

BJP has decided to adopt a ‘wait-and-watch’ policy

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting at his residence on Saturday to discuss the party’s future strategies in Bihar.

Union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari, party chief Amit Shah and general secretary Ram Lal attended the meeting.

Speculation is rife that Jitan Ram Manjhi, who is facing pressure from the pro-Nitish Kumar faction to resign, could meet the Prime Minister. He reached Delhi on Saturday night.

The Bihar Assembly polls are scheduled for later this year and the BJP has decided to adopt a ‘wait-and-watch’ policy, as it doesn’t want to be seen siding with Mr Manjhi.

Mr Shah also held meetings with former Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, senior Bihar leader Nand Kishore Yadav, party leader in charge of Bihar Bhupendra Yadav etc.

Though currently, all eyes are on the Delhi poll results, the party is not sidelining the Bihar issue, said a party source adding that the Delhi results will impact on Bihar polls, where the saffron party wants to wrest power from JD(U), its former ally.
