Singareni to step up output
Hyderabad: The Singareni Collieries intensified its effort to generate 1,600 MW of power by mid 2016. In order to achieve this, it got nearly 524 hectares of land for coal mining. Out of this, 124 hectares was forest land in Yallandu mandal and the remaining 400 hectares is in Manuguru mandal of Khammam district. This land is given for 20 years. In order to improve production, the SCCL formed multi department teams to supervise production with a specific time frame, according to a top official.
The forest land is part of 1,363 hectares originally allocated in 2005 and this is the third renewal which saw a reduced area of 524 acres after excavation for 10 years. Singareni has also urged the Union government to allot six coal blocks along with Tadicharla for its thermal generation needs.
Coal blocks Utkal in Odisha and Mandakini in Chhattisgarh were among the other five we sought either through bidding or auction allotment. We hope a positive response,” the officials said.
