Chief Minister targets civic polls with waivers
Hyderabad: The TRS is planning to attract urban voters by waiving property tax for the poor before GHMC polls. Recently, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had taken several decisions to win over urban voters and strengthen the party base in GHMC, Warangal, Khammam Municipal corporations where elections are due after delimitation, besides other municipal corporations and municipalities in the state.
Mr Rao is going all out to win the GHMC elections going by the massive welfare and developmental programmes for Hyderabad besides effective policing measures.The proposed waiver of property tax and also waiver of penal interest to the poor, regularisation of encroachment of government land free of cost up to 125 sq.yards and for a price beyond that, collection of a token Rs1 only from those eligible for waiver of property tax, urban housing scheme, remodelling of drainage system, relaying of roads and new roads is part of the strategy to win urban voters.
Before leaving for New Delhi, the CM convened a meeting of Greater Hyderabad TRS leaders, but skipped it due to the PRC announcement and entrusted the work to TRS general secretary K. Keshava Rao, Mohd. Mahamood Ali, Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Padma Rao and Srinivas Yadav. Mr Keshava Rao said the TRS constituted a temporary committee to oversee the membership drive. “All sections are backing the TRS. It will win hands down in GHMC polls and other elections,” he said.
TRS top guns made in charge of city assembly segments
In an indication of the importance being given to GHMC polls, the Chief Minister K. Chandra-sekhar Rao on Thursday appointed top guns of the party as in charges for the membership drive in GHMC limits of Hyderabad city.
The CM nominated Deputy CM Mohd. Mahamood Ali as in charge for Malakpet, Yakutpura, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura, Nampally Assembly constituencies. He also nominated home minister Nayani Naras-imha Reddy for Musheerabad, Amberpet, Goshamahal and LB Nagar, Khairatabad constituencies.
