Delhi polls: AAP says volunteers given spy cams to capture bid to buy votes

Video recordings will immediately be transferred from the spy cams to centralised war rooms

New Delhi: Accusing BJP of "buying votes", AAP on Fridayclaimed to have handed over around 5,000 spy cameras to its volunteers to record any attempt to "distribute cash and liquor to lure voters".

"We have information that BJP is distributing money, liquor and non-vegetarian food to the public and they are also seizing voter identity cards of poor," AAP leader Ashutosh said.

The party underlined the move as an attempt to curb the practice of liquor and money distribution during elections.

"The technology used this time allows the transfer of video recordings and visuals immediately from the spy cams to centralised war rooms set up by the party," a volunteer said.

It rules out any danger to the volunteers on ground while facilitating the quick handing over of the evidence to the Election Commission for immediate action, he added.

Earlier, making a counter allegation, Union Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman said that there are reports that liquor and cash is being distributed by AAP candidates.
