Drunkard kills old woman
Hyderabad: A retired Public Service Commission employee’s wife was murdered in broad daylight by her drunk neighbour on Thursday at Chaitanya puri. The alleged killer, Rukma Rao, who was on way to kill his wife after getting drunk, picked up a quarrel with the victim K. Venkatalakshmi, 64, and went on a stabbing spree. Though locals caught Rukma Rao on the spot and sent the victim to a hospital she succumbed within a few hours. The police found eight stab injuries on her body.
Chaitanyapuri inspector M. Ravinder Reddy said that Rukma Rao was a drunkard and used to fight with his wife regularly. “Minutes before the murder, Rukma Rao was passing by the lawn of the victim's house. When Venkatalakshmi questioned him for trespassing he attacked her with the knife,” he said. Venkatalakshmi was alone in her house as her husband and children had gone out. “He stabbed her repeatedly on different parts of body inflicting serious injuries. As she screamed for help local youngsters came and rescued her. However, she succumbed soon. They caught the attacker and handed over to us,” the inspector said.
Police said that it was a spontaneous attack and that Rukma Rao was carrying the knife to kill his wife.Police officials said that they are not able to interrogate Rukma Rao as he was too drunk to talk.
The cops booked a case against him for murder. He will be produced before court soon.
