Telangana Rashtra Samiti to focus on districts
Hyderabad: After achieving statehood after 14 years of struggle, the TRS is now focusing on strengthening the party in the village to district levels, besides in the civic body. The party is targeting to enrol 30,000 members in every Assembly constituency by February 20 and constitute village to state-level committees before the party’s first foundation day celebrations in the new state at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on April 27. About 5 lakh people are expected to attend the meeting.
The TRS’ extended general body will meet at the RD Convention Hall at Kompally on April 24 to elect the party president. Sources say that current TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will be re-elected. A working president might also be appointed to oversee party affairs since the CM is busy with administration. Mr Rao launched the membership drive here on Tuesday. New members will get insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh and an identity card.
