No future for other political parties in Telangana, asserts K Chandrasekhar Rao

TRS would return to power again in the 2019 polls, said KCR

Hyderabad: Lashing out at the Congress and the Telugu Desam for unwarranted criticism of his government and policies, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday defended the government’s plan to develop Hyderabad into the world’s best city on the lines of Dallas in the US by making best use of its properties.

He asserted there was no future for other political parties in Telangana State except for the TRS, adding that his government would return to power again in the 2019 polls by bagging 135 to 140 out of the 154 seats after delimitation.

Rao did not spare Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and accused him of harming Telangana by depriving Krishnapatnam and Hinduja power to the state and creating other obstacles.

“Someone said yours is a Hitec City. I said yes. When there is rain, cars turn into boats and float here. That is hi-tech. You will see every year on TV, low-lying areas flooded with water during rainy season and women throwing out water with buckets from flooded houses,” he said.

Taking exception to reports in a section of media about sale of many government properties, misleading reports on the High Court order on GHMC elections, an angry Mr Rao asserted that the government would make the best use of government lands and buildings in the city and outside for public good.

“We will demolish 10 quarters in Panjagutta and construct a market on one-acre land. We will raze some quarters in Malakpet Colony and have another market on one-acre land and similarly in Erramanzil Colony. Is it wrong?” he asked.

He added, “There were reports that we will construct skyscrapers on the secretariat land and sell away all government lands. What kind of writing is this? If buildings are vacated, lands are cleared, we will construct bus stations, dhobi ghats, markets etc.”

Mr Rao expressed anguish that for a population of about one crore, 85 lakh permanent and 15 lakh floating, Hyderabad had only 24 markets, whereas it needed at least 1,000 vegetable, fish and meat markets.
