Hyderabad: A member of the notorious Lamba chain- snatching gang escaped the police at Alkapuri in LB Nagar on Tuesday afternoon. The accused, Md. Akheeluddin, and three of his associates, escaped while the public was watching.
Two police constables, who were taking Akheeluddin to LB Nagar police station from Cherlapally Jail, were attacked by his associates while they were coming out of a local restaurant after having lunch. The attack was pre-planned, and Akheeluddin’s associates had followed them waiting for a chance to strike. Police has formed a special team to trace the criminals and the Chaitanyapuri police has booked a case. The Lamba chainsnatching gang leader Sayeed Hussain and his gang were busted one month ago.
They were allegedly involved in 220 cases. Akheeluddin had allegedly helped the gang sell the snatched gold.
