What’s up with the Chopra sisters?

They had the most talked-about releases in 2014

Priyanka chopra: While rivals Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt have been celebrating their Best Actress awards, PC’s Mary Kom seems to have gotten somewhat sidelined. In her interviews Priyanka has always maintained that actresses need not play second fiddle to actors and that they can very well carry a film on their shoulders.

Barring Hrithik Roshan in Agneepath and the Krrish series, PC hasn’t shared the screen with any top actor lately. She has a few ensemble cast releases to look forward to Bajirao Mastani and Dil Dhadakne Do. But her impact in the West continues to make headlines. “Making smart copies for glossies about one-sided love and having babies is a smart strategy to keep herself in the news,” says a trade analyst. Is PC’s focus on her international projects a way to cover up for a lack of projects in Bollywood?

Parineeti chopra: A series of repetitive roles seem to have diluted the impact Parineeti Chopra had created with Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl and Ishaqzaade. It appears that her bold and bindaas onscreen image that was much appreciated initially has worked to her disadvantage in the long run.

The YRF protégé managed to bag one film outside her mentor’s banner Karan Johar’s Hasee Toh Phasee. The failure of her last films, Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil has compelled her to rethink her strategy. “She was always the ‘actor’ and not a fashionista. But Parineeti’s weight issues and her forceful ways of achieving the fashionista tag got her flak,” says a source. The actress was banking on building a brand new image with her film with Saif Ali Khan, but that has been shelved. From being the most sought after actor of her generation to a no-show phase, Parineeti is only hoping to break the jinx soon.
