Telangana puts land sale in motion

Top priority is being given to Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts

Hyderabad: Taking a step forward on the auctioning of government buildings and lands in Telangana State, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma convened an emergency meeting with the district collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts along with GHMC officials at the Secretariat on Monday. He asked the officials to submit complete details of government lands and buildings with survey numbers and photographs within the next two days.

These pictures and details will be posted on the government website, enabling buyers to pick buildings and lands of their choice after the government notifies them for auction.

The government wants to create a comprehensive database of government buildings and lands with their survey numbers and pictures to ensure that no problems crop up in future.

Top priority is being given to Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, where the state owns office buildings in prime localities worth thousands of crores, on which the government has pinned its hopes to raise revenues.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had recently announced plans to build integrated complexes to house all government offices at a single location by shifting the Secretariat and HoDs to Erragadda besides building separate complexes for Hyderabad and RR district offices.

The existing offices thus vacated will be put on sale and the government expects to raise nearly Rs 10,000 crore through this.

The CS on Monday asked officials to give 'utmost priority' to the identification of government buildings and lands in Hyderabad and RR districts and submit their reports in two days.
