Ebola vaccine trial starts in Liberia
Monrobvia, Liberia (AP): A group of musicians entertained guests in a densely-populated community as a partnership set up by the governments of Liberia and United States prepared for the voluntary trial of anti-Ebola vaccines.
The actual trial begins in the Liberian capital on Monday on the first batch of volunteers, Guests clapped, danced along and nodded Sunday as musicians sang lyrics that explain the purpose and intent of the Ebola vaccination trial. Liberians have not shown much excitement about the vaccines amid conspiracy theories.
Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai launched the vaccines in the presence of top U.S. Embassy and World Health Organization officials. He told The Associated Press the vaccines are very important for Liberia and for the world.
He urged Liberians to take courage because it is going to work.
