Top ten cars that are likeliest to kill you during accidents
Here are the 10 vehicles that involved the highest number of deaths
Wellington: A new study has listed the top ten cars that have the highest probability of killing someone during accidents. The study conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in US demonstrated that the smallest, cheapest cars are likelier to be involved in a serious accident, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The study which looked at large-sales volume vehicles from the 2008-2011 model years, found that the four-door versions of Kia Rio, Nissan Versa and Hyundai Accent had the highest rates of driver deaths per 1 million registered vehicles and for the Rio, it was 149 deaths per 1 million over the study period, 2009 to 2012.
IIHS spokesman Russ Rader asserted that the highest death rates were in the smallest, lightest vehicles. Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew, Honda Civic two-door, Nissan Versa hatchback and Ford Focus are some of the other cars that are proven to be risky
