Swine flu vaccine rush
Not only healthcare personnel and cops, our T-town celebs are also jittery about getting swine flu. We spoke to a few of them who have got themselves vaccinated for the H1N1 virus.
Actor Harshvardhan Rane says, “I recently saw the movie I where they talk about the H2N4 virus; after that I started reading up on viruses. I also read about the swine flu virus and recently I went and got a shot. I think it’s also important for us actors to get vaccinated because we keep meeting so many people on a daily basis.”
Lakshmi Manchu says she “freaked out” when she realised that a journalist she had been working with closely for some time had swine flu. “We were working together for a story and three days later, she calls me up and tells me she had swine flu.The infection is airborne and rampant right now. And, obviously, nobody wants to get swine flu.”
Though she had no flu-like symptoms, Lakshmi was recently spotted on social media getting her swine flu shot. “I had a doctor (Chaitanya Challa) come over to the house for the swine flu vaccination. Rather than going to the hospital, where many people fear one can pick up the flu, I felt it was much safer to have a doctor and his team come over to my house. Not just my family, but we got the cooks, the drivers… the entire staff vaccinated,” she says.
Stylist Neeraja Kona, who has also been vaccinated, says, “Given my profession, I have to interact with a lot of people every day. So I thought it is better to get myself vaccinated. Also, the people who interact with me every day can now feel safe.”
Actor Brahmaji, who is currently shooting for Pandaga Chesko, says, “When a movie is being shot, a lot of people work with us on the sets, so there is a high-risk of getting Swine flu. So I have taken the vaccine and so has my family.”
