Bengaluru police shelve Asaduddin Owaisi’s meet on February 8
Hyderabad: The Bengaluru city police has cancelled the permission granted to the MIM to hold a public meeting in Chota Maidan on February 8.
The local organisers had secured permission on January 16 from the Commercial Street police station for the meeting which was to be addressed by MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. However, on Friday, the organisers received a cancellation letter.
Mr Owaisi alleged that the police had cancelled permission stating that they were unable to provide security for the MIM meeting as two or three other programmes have been scheduled on the same day. He accused the ruling Congress in Karnataka for cancelling permission in the eleventh hour by citing “silly reasons”.
He said that after witnessing the overwhelming response to the MIM in Maharashtra, the Karnataka Congress leaders had developed cold feet.
