Amitabh’s baritone now on the field

Amitabh Bachchan will be a cricket commentator for the India-Pakistan match on February 15

The Bachchan baritone just got bigger. On February 15, when India plays a cricket match against Pakistan at Adelaide, Amitabh Bachchan will be doing duty as a commentator alongside stalwarts of the commentary box Harsha Bhogle and Kapil Dev.

Confirming this change of pace for India’s best-known baritone, filmmaker R. Balki says, “Mr Bachchan’s voice is the star of my film Shamitabh.

The plot revolves around the baritone. I personally feel and there are millions who will agree with me that there is nothing that Mr Bachchan’s voice can’t do. He has done voice-overs in many feature films and has also lent his voice to documentaries and social causes. The one thing that he hadn’t done was cricket commentary.”

Apparently the idea of getting Big B to do something so universally appealing as cricket commentary is dual strategy. It not only serves as promotion of Shamitabh, it also binds the two warring nations together.

Balki adds, “I think two voices Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan unite India and Pakistan better than anything else.”
