Counterfeit currency racket busted

The accused circulated fake Rs 1,000 notes
Hyderabad: The Tappachabutra police busted a counterfeit currency racket and arrested a gang of four including three women. The accused circulated fake Rs 1,000 notes. The accused women go to grocery and department stores and buy household items. They give the fake '1,000 note and collect original currency as balance and were given commission for that, police said.
Police seized Rs 36,000 counterfeit currency and Rs 45,820 original currency (exchanged currency), a Ford Figo car, a bike and four cell phones from them.
The accused are Dokka Laxmi Narayana, 42, who runs a tailoring shop named Lalitha Enterprises and a resident of Prashanth Tower, Musheerabad, E. Anitha, 24, an employee at Lalitha Enterprises and a resident of Musheerabad, K. Saritha, 24, an employee at Lalitha Enterprises and a resident of Indiranagar, in Musheerabad, G. Harika, 22, also a worker in Lalitha Enterprises and a resident of Prashanth Tower in Musheerabad and a native of Krishna district. The kingpin, Srinath Reddy, 36, a native of Anantapur district, is absconding.
West Zone DCP A. Venkateshwara Rao said that Laxmi Narayana plotted to exchange fake currency with the help of the women working in his shop. Srinath Reddy gave fake notes worth Rs 1.24 lakh to Laxmi Narayana in Rs 1,000 denomination notes. Laxminarayana planned to change the fake currency into original currency by circulating it at shops. He engaged three workers from his shop for the job.
“The women purchase household items like rice by giving fake notes. After that they return the balance original notes to Laxminarayana,” the DCP said. The gang was arrested during a vehicle check at Tappachabutra T junction. They were carrying bags containing the fake currency. They were taken into custody and they confessed during interrogation.
