Amazon WorkMail to compete with Gmail and Microsoft Outlook
It seems like Amazon is expanding its online horizon by launching its new mail service known as ‘WorkMail’. The arrival of Amazon Workmail may prove to be a tough competitor of Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. Amazon WorkMail is basically a business-focused email service, which allows you to access your emails, contacts, and calendars using Microsoft Outlook as well as native iOS and Android email applications. The WorkMail offers around 50GB of mailbox space to its users.
Users can access their email and calendar using all major mobile devices supporting the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol, including iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire, Fire Phone, Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry 10.
You can create additional distribution lists or groups using the AWS Management Console that will then be available to users via the Amazon WorkMail address book. Additionally, Amazon WorkMail users can also create personal distribution lists using Microsoft Outlook or the Amazon WorkMail web client.
The Amazon WorkMail web client supports browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer 9+. The Amazon WorkMail web client is also integrated with Amazon WorkDocs. This provides users with the ability to attach files stored in WorkDocs to an email and replace an existing email attachment with a WorkDocs link. Users can also securely save attachments to WorkDocs with a single click.
Key features:
Outlook compatible
Amazon WorkMail provides native support for Microsoft Outlook on Windows and Mac OS X, so users can continue to use the email client they are already using without the need for installing any additional software, such as plug-ins for Microsoft Outlook.

Amazon WorkMail security
Amazon WorkMail enforces security policies that one can specify for your users’ mobile devices via the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol. Amazon WorkMail scans all incoming and outgoing email for spam, malware, and viruses to protect you from malicious email.
Amazon WorkMail allows customers to retain full control over the location of their data by choosing the AWS Region where their data is stored. All data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard SSL. Amazon WorkMail is integrated with the AWS Key Management Service so that customers control their own encryption keys.
Amazon WorkMail enforces security policies that businesses specify for users’ mobile devices via the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol. Businesses can require device encryption, require that devices lock, specify requirements for device password strength, and wipe devices remotely using the AWS Management Console.
Corporate directory integration:
Administrators can integrate Amazon WorkMail with their existing Microsoft Active Directory so that users can access their mailboxes with their existing corporate credentials. Amazon WorkMail includes a migration tool that administrators can use to migrate mailboxes from on-premises email servers to Amazon WorkMail. After migration, users’ Microsoft Outlook and mobile email clients can automatically connect to Amazon WorkMail using Microsoft Outlook’s Autodiscover feature.
Amazon WorkMail users need to pay $4 (Approximately Rs 245 )per month, which will help you access the 50GB mailbox storage capacity of the mail service.
Amazon has also decided to offer a 30-day free trial to only 25 users. Amazon WorkMail and Amazon WorkDocs can also be purchased together for $6 per user per month. This option includes 50GB of Amazon WorkMail mailbox storage and 200 GB of Amazon WorkDocs storage for each user.
