TRS rakes up P Shankar Rao case, slams parties

The TRS hit back at critics of KCR accusing them of adopting double standards
Hyderabad: The sacking of former deputy CM and health minister Dr T. Rajaiah has led to a war of words between the ruling TRS and Opposition parties. The TRS on Wednesday hit back at critics of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing them of adopting double standards.
“Why were the same leaders silent when Dr P. Shankar Rao, a Dalit, was sacked from the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet? Why were they silent when police behaved brashly with him? The Congress criticising is like the devil reading scriptures,” said Karne Prabhakar, MLC and TRS politburo member.
Hitting out at Telangana Telugu Desam leaders including E. Dayakar Rao, L. Ramana, M. Narasimhulu and others, he said the Telangana TD leaders sitting in Andhra Bhavan (NTR Trust Bhavan) are behaving like coverts of the Andhra Pradesh government.
“They have been criticising Mr Rao and his family since the last 14 years. People gave a clear verdict in 2014 and the CM emerged as a sparkling pearl. Some people are talking like jokers to get media attention,” he remarked.
Dr Rajaiah, he said, had admitted to certain lapses in his own department and had also committed to stand by CM’s decision. “Why should the opposition be so worried about him when he himself has admitted to lapses? Congress leaders who lost power seem to have lost their mental balance too,” he said.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy called the CM’s decision to shift the Chest Hospital as inappropriate and questioned the need for Parade Grounds and others buildings planned at the hospital site.
