'Bend it like Beckham' film-maker Gurinder Chadha meets PM Narendra Modi
Gurinder Chadha visited the country to select actors for new film on Lord Mountbatten
Mumbai: Indian-origin British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha, who is in the country to scout for locations for her upcoming film on Partition, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here. The director's next is tentatively titled 'The Viceroy's House'.
The 55-year-old 'Bend It Like Beckham' film-maker took to twitter to share the picture in which she is seen with Modi.
"Move over @BarackObama @MichelleObama @GurinderC got an Indian film to make on the partition of India! #tolerance," Chadha posted.
The director's upcoming movie is based on the book 'Freedom at Midnight' by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre. The cast of the film is yet to be decided. The film will chronicle the last six months of Lord Mountbatten's tenure in India, which marked the end of the British Raj.
According to reports, Chadha is keen on casting Colin Firth as Mountbatten, Naseeruddin Shah as Jinnah and Saif Ali Khan as Jawaharlal Nehru.
