Need policy to support arts: Leela Samson
There is no spokesperson for arts and no arts policy too
Hyderabad: Speaking at a session titled The Drama of Dance, former Censor Board Chairperson Leela Samson said that there is a need to set up a comprehensive arts policy to support dance and other art forms. She also pointed out that the government is least interested in popularising arts.
Prominent dancers who were on the panel felt that there is an immediate need to pump in more money to support dance performances to save the various dance forms.
“Government, in my opinion, does not care much about dance and arts. There is no spokesperson for arts and no arts policy too. In this complex situation, funding is a very difficult task,” said Ms Samson.
