With Emraan Hashmi being cast as cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and Prachi Desai playing his first wife in the biopic, all eyes are now set on who will play his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani.
If reliable sources are to be believed, the team behind the biopic is now seriously toying with the idea of casting Bijlani as herself. “We read somewhere that Ms Bijlani is ready to make a comeback.
We saw her recent pictures and were blown away by how well she has maintained herself. We intend to offer her the role,” says the source from the film’s team. “We have so far not approached anyone for Sangeeta Bijlani’s role. But we feel, who better to play Ms Bijlani than the lady herself?” the source added.
When asked if she wouldn’t look older than Hashmi, the source answered in the negative. “Emraan would have to play a character older than his own age for a major portion of the film.
And Sangeeta looks no more than 30. We don’t think there will be a compatibility problem.”
When contacted, director Anthony D’Souza said, “We have so far only cast two actors, Emraan and Prachi Desai. We’re looking into the rest of the casting.”
