Centre alerts Telangana and Andhra Pradesh of possible terror hit

The alert came following the arrest of an ISI agent two days ago in Orissa

Hyderabad: The Centre has alerted Andhra Pradesh and Telangana of possible terror attacks on important defence establishments and ports. The states have especially been told to be on alert and strengthen security arrangements at Hyderabad’s key defence establishments like the Nuclear Fuel Corporation (NFC) located near ECIL, and the Ordnance factory at Yeddumaila-ram of Medak district.

In Andhra Pradesh, Vizag and Kakinada ports are potential targets. The alert came following the arrest of an ISI agent two days ago in Orissa. The agent had links with several people in different states including Andhra Pradesh; he was getting money transferred from undisclosed locations in Andhra Pradesh, apart from other cities.

Ishwar Chandra Behera, a cameraperson employed with the Interim Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur in Balasore district was arrested on charges of passing on sensitive information about missile tests to the Pakistani spy agency ISI.

Behera had been working as a cameraperson in ITR on contract since 2007 and had been engaged in espionage activities for the past eight-10 months, officials said. His call records revealed that he was in constant touch with several people including in Andhra Pradesh.
