Arvind Kejriwal repeats his controversial bribe remarks in Delhi rally

He urged people to accept money from BJP and Congress, but don't vote

New Delhi: AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday promised free water supply to residents of North West Delhi's congested localities while repeating his controversial remarks asking voters to accept money from BJP and Congress but vote for AAP.

Kejriwal addressed three consecutive rallies at Dwarka, Vikaspuri and Madipur Assembly constituencies during the day.

"If we are voted to power, we will ensure free water availability through water tankers as long as water pipeline is not laid out," he said at the day's first rally at Sagarpur.

Later he urged people to accept the money that BJP and Congress workers would start distributing ‘from February 1’.

"I have come to know that people from BJP and Congress parties would come to give you money from February 1 onwards. They already have started distributing blankets. Some of them are distributing rice also. I say take money from them but don't vote. Give your vote to AAP," he said.

The AAP chief's comments come a day after he wrote to the Election Commission stating that his comments were being "read out of context".

Earlier, he told the crowd that AAP was fortunate to have fielded Adarsh Shastri, the grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, as the party's Dwarka candidate.

"Lal Bahadur Shastri was the most honest Prime Minister of the country and we are fortunate that his own grandson is contesting the election on our (party) ticket," he said. He reiterated his promise of slashing power tariff by half as AAP was "not friends with power companies".

"BJP had spoken about bringing down power tariff by 30 per cent but has your bill come down? We will once again slash tariff by half because we are not friends with power companies," Kejriwal said. He also spoke of providing an APP to every woman which will ‘enable them to call the police whenever they feel unsafe’.
