Telangana State industrial plan from month end
Hyderabad: The new single window online industrial approval system devised by TS government will come into effect from the end of this month. However, the approval system would be confined to only medium and small scale industries in the beginning as the Centre is yet to grant special incentives to TS to set up mega industries worth investments over Rs 200 crore.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced the new industrial policy "TSIPASS" (Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self Certification System) in the Legislative Assembly in the last session in November and got it approved.
The policy is aimed at giving approvals without giving any scope for political or bureaucratic corruption. Though it's over two months since the legislation was made, the industries department failed to initiate the application process since several concessions announced in the policy with regard to customs, excise duties are related to Centre, which has to take a decision on them.
The industries department has already launched a trial run to see the functioning of online approval system and clearance were given to two small and medium enterprises within two weeks successfully.
However, the government is looking at big investments worth over Rs 200 crore, which were categorised as mega projects, for which the government is ensuring all clearances within three weeks. But no such mega investment proposals have come up so far since they are awaiting decision on various concessions that were promised in the new policy.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to launch the single window online approval system next week without referring to the concessions that are yet to be granted by the Centre with an aim of inviting investment applications from small and medium enterprises in the beginning.
