AP and Telangana Governor to hoist national flag at Vijayawada
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan will unfurl the tricolour and receive ceremonial guard of honour on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day tomorrow in Vijayawada and also in Hyderabad.
The state government had announced that area around Vijayawada city would be developed into the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, which was bifurcated last year to create Telangana.
As part of the preparations, various tableaux, showcasing a number of schemes of the state government and the ones by famous Tirumala Tirupati Devstanam, to be displayed at the function have already been lined up at the Indira Gandhi municipal stadium, the venue of the programme.
Police conducted the dress rehearsal parade at the venue yesterday which was monitored by state DGP J V Ramudu. Narasimhan and state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu are expected to arrive here tonight.
Krishna district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the occasion. Mahatma Gandhi road will remain closed on Monday morning for general public and only invitees are allowed with their vehicles, according to district officials.
Narasimhan will leave for Hyderabad after attending the function here, where he will participate in similar celebrations organised by K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Telangana government.
