Drug firms seek zone regulations

It will help to prevent residential spaces from coming up near the proposed Pharma City
HYDERABAD: Concerned over the possibility of displacement of existing industrial units within the city, pharma industry representatives called on the government on Friday, to be stringent with zoning to prevent residential spaces from coming up near the proposed Pharma City.
TS government has finalised 11,000 acre of land for the Pharma City at Mucherla, adjacent to the ORR, 30 minutes from the international airport. “Whenever pharma industries are developed in the industrial zones, residential houses also come up. Later, the industries are asked to leave,” said Venkat Jasti, president of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association.
Responding to their request, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said that the sector would get top priority.
