Three Tehrik-i-Taliban terrorists arrested in Pakistan
Peshawar: Three Taliban terrorists planning to carry out major terror attacks were arrested on Friday after security forces besieged a house in Pakistan's restive northwest Khyber Pakthunkhwa province.
The arrests of three Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorits were made in Kohat district after police laid siege to a house following a tip off about the presence of terrorists in Baghat area, local police said.
A huge cache of arms and explosive material was also seized from the possession of the terrorists who were planning major terror attacks in the region, police said.
The seized items included explosive chemicals, eight detonators, eight hand grenades, four Kalashnikovs, two rifles, bundles of fuse wire used to make explosions, electric wire and army uniforms, police added.
The arrested terrorists were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Pakistan security forces launched operation Khyber 1 in volatile Khyber Agency in early October against militants linked with the Taliban beside Zarb-i-Azb, another operation launched on June 15 following a brazen militant attack on Karachi's international airport.
More than 1,200 militants have been killed in these operations. Army says the offensives would continue till militancy is crushed.
A total of 1,187 deaths were reported from the province last year.
