6-year-old boy dies due to suspected H1N1 flu virus in Vizag

The boy was undergoing treatment for pneumonia at a private hospital in the city

Visakhapatnam: A six-year-old boy died allegedly due to pneumonia at King George Hospital in Vizag on Friday morning, however he may have been the victim of H1N1 virus, more commonly known as swine flu.

Officials said that it was a suspected case of the swine flu and test samples of the boy have been sent to Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) in Hyderabad for confirmation. The reports are expected on Saturday after which the exact cause of death will be announced.

Officials also said that the boy was been suffering from heart disease and had undergone treatment in private hospital at Narsipatnam, Gajuwaka and Vizag. He was admitted to KGH last night for pneumonia and respiratory problems. He died on Friday morning while under going treatment.
