He’s a thorough professional: Tannishtha Chatterjee

...says Tannishtha Chatterjee about her Unindian co-actor and cricketer Brett Lee

At a time when Bollywood actors would do anything to play up their Hollywood connection, Tannishtha Chatterjee is happy letting her work speak louder than her words.

The actress who has earlier associated with Hollywood projects, just wrapped up the shoot of Unindian as the main lead opposite Brett Lee. “Not a cameo,” she clarifies. It’s a romantic film directed by an Australian director of Indian origin, Anupam Sharma.

The actress is all praise for the Aussi cricket star. “He is a gem of a person, a thorough professional and has a great sense of humour. I really had a great time working with the entire team.

Martin Mcgarth who shot the pathbreaking film Muriel’s Wedding was the DOP. Anupam is a fabulous director and a great team leader. All the people from the Australia India Film Fund were really wonderful.”

Russel Carpenter (cinematographer of James Cameron’s Titanic) is shooting Tannishtha’s other film Parched set in Rajasthan. It is being made as two separate films in English and Hindi, and Ajay Devgn will send the former to various festivals across the world.

Says Tannishtha, “Such realistic cinema should be able to reach a wide audience. Gulaab Gang was so brilliantly marketed, but one of my best films Dekh Indian Circus remains unreleased.

It’s very infuriating because you give your all to a film, and then you discover that hardly anyone has seen it. I am happy a star of Ajay Devgn’s stature is producing Parched. He’ll make sure it gets properly released. This is going to be the Titanic of the deserts.”
