US President Obama, PM Modi to address businessmen

This will be the first time a US President & an Indian PM will make a joint address

New Delhi: For the first time, US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share their vision on the two countries’ economic ties when they deliver a joint address to business leaders next Monday, Republic Day.

Mr Obama and Mr Modi will make a joint appearance and address business leaders of both nations at a summit hosted by the US-India Business Council. The Indian government, CII and FICCI are co-hosts.

Sources told Deccan Chronicle the two will meet top leaders of the business community Monday, after which they will deliver their first-ever joint address. The two are expected to share their vision on bilateral ties, especially on the economic front.

This will be the first time a US President and an Indian PM will be making a joint address to business leaders during a US presidential visit. When Mr Obama was in India in 2010, he had spoken at a summit hosted by the US-India Business Council in Mumbai. The then commerce and corporate affairs ministers had attended the summit.
