Jumbo kills ISRO scientist, husband
The tragedy occurred after others in the group had left the plantation
Kottayam: A wild elephant trampled to death B. Gagruti Raval, 50, an Isro scientist and her husband Bhupendra Raval, 52, as they tried to take its picture while trekking at a cardamom plantation in Pathanamthitta on Wednesday noon.
Aftwer stamping the victims the pachyderm stayed at the spot for sometime preventing the Kerala forest officials from recovering the bodies. The state forest department has suspended its trekking packages till furthur notice.
The couple were part of a group of six trekkers, including four engineers, who were on a day package tour of the plantation. The tragedy occurred after others in the group had left the plantation. The guide tried the alert the couple, but the jumbo charged forward, trampling and them.
