Hyderabad resident moves High Court against Gopala Gopala

‘Movie hurts Hinduism’ says C. Raghunatha Rao
Hyderabad: C. Raghunatha Rao, a resident of the city, on Wednesday moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking a directive to the makers of Pavan Kalyan and Venkatesh starrer movie Gopala Gopala to withdraw the film from the theatres until re-certification of the film by the Central Board of Film Certification.
The petitioner submitted that the movie has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus as it portrays Hindu spiritual gurus in poor light degrading them and also denigrating women.
He said that one Hindu spiritual guru is portrayed as a eunuch, while another is shown as a foodie. A woman spiritual guru has been portrayed indecently.
The petitioner said that the action of the Film Censor Board in granting certification to the movie is against the principles of the Union of India, issued in 1978. He urged the court to suspend the certificate and to direct the Censor Board to re-examine the film keeping in view of the religious sentiments of Hindus.
Disqualification of TD MLAs:
Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday asked the advocate general of Telangana to submit his version on January 27 before the court on a petition seeking disqualification of three MLAs for joining the TRS without resigning from the TD.
Errabelli Dayakar Rao, floor leader of Telangana TDLP submitted that MLAs, T. Srinivasa Yadav, T. Krishna Reddy and Dharma Reddy were elected on TD tickets and later joined the TRS and they committed acts that attract disqualification on the ground of defection.
He told the court that he had filed his application on November 24, 2014 before the Speaker and it was taken on file on December 5, 2014 and issued notices to the respondents.
He alleged that Speaker’s actions are tainted with legal, factual and Constitutional mala fides and he is trying to save the three respondents from being disqualified.
The judge asked the AG to respond on the plea.
HC raps AP for trial delay:
Expressing dismay at the inordinate delay in commencing trial in the Dalit youth tonsure case in East Godavari, which has took place in 1997; Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar of the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday directed the Andhra Pradesh state government to file a status report before the court within two weeks.
The petitioners said that three Dalit youth were tonsured by non-Dalits in the limits of Draksharama police station and a case was registered against Thota Trimurthulu MLA of the Constituency and others in January 1997. The judge asked the district collector, SP and the government to explain the delay.
