Police to question journalists with whom Sunanda had spoken before her death

A TV journalist, confirmed on Twitter that he has been summoned

New Delhi: A few journalists with whom Sunanda Pushkar had talked to hours before her death in January last year will be questioned by Delhi Police which is in the process of analysing the veracity of the statement made by her husband Shashi Tharoor during questioning.

The Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Delhi Police has also got a new piece of information that Sunanda had gone out of a five-star hotel of Delhi, a day after she checked into it on January 15 last year, and is probing the details.

52-year-old Sunanda was found dead in a room in the hotel on January 17 last year. Delhi Police filed a case of murder in the case on January 1 and an SIT was formed to probe the case.

Police sources on Wednesday said some journalists with whom Sunanda had talked over phone in the last 48 hours of her life have been called for questioning. One of them, a TV journalist, confirmed on Twitter that he has been summoned tomorrow morning. Besides, two women journalists are also likely to be called for questioning.

Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said the information given by Tharoor during questioning is being analysed and if the SIT is not satisfied, he will be called again for questioning.

"I will not be able to tell you that right now (when he will be questioned). Whenever the SIT finds it appropriate they will do it. We have questioned him and the SIT is analysing the answers.

"It may happen that the SIT gets satisfied with the information it has got. If they are not satisfied with the information so far, he may be called again," he said.
