Battleground Delhi: Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal to file nomination papers for Assembly polls today

Polling will take place on February 7, counting on February 10

New Delhi: Friends-turned-political rivals Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi will file their nominatons for the much-anticipated Delhi polls on Wednesday. Bedi is scheduled to file her nomination from Krishna Nagar today.

Earlier, in the day Bedi visited her constituency and met tea sellers, newspaper vendors enquiring about their state of affairs. "Everyday I will go to people and ask them about the problems that they are facing and will try and resolve them. I am not doing this for media attention. I never asked anyone from the media to come here," said Bedi. She further stopped a biker who wasn't wearing a helmet and asked him to obey traffic rules.

Apart from Bedi, several senior leaders will be filing their nomination papers today, including Aam Aadmi Party Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Congress campaign chief Ajay Maken.

Bedi also led a roadshow through East Delhi, including the Krishna Nagar constituency, which is a BJP stronghold.

Kejriwal will file his nominations from the New Delhi assembly constituency today after he failed to meet the deadline for filing the nominations yesterday due to his roadshow.

The scrutiny of nominations will take place tomorrow, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 24.

Polling will take place on February 7 and the counting of votes will be taken up on February 10.
